THE SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE AT ST. PETER'S CATHEDRAL
The Sacrament of Marriage at the Cathedral is open to all members of the Cathedral congregation and their immediate families. Marriage is one of the most significant moments in our lives. For this reason, we consider it a great privilege to be involved in the lives and preparation of couples desiring to commit themselves to one another, and to God, through this sacrament. The need for such preparation is especially essential today in the face of the many challenges couples encounter as they strive to honor God and their vows for a lifelong union.
The social understanding of Marriage has been in flux in our society, as we recognize that human love is expressed in a variety of ways within our social experience. The sacramental expression of Marriage within the church has also been a topic of discussion, as we discern the expression of this sacrament in today's world. At The Cathedral, we welcome all of God’s children into an uplifting and transformational experience of worship and fellowship, as we seek, together, a closer relationship with God, within God's hope and intention for creation through Christ. Our overriding goal is to faithfully draw near to God and to be informed and then transformed into the likeness of Christ so that we can share His love and truth within, and through, our lives.
